Iowa parents, just be happy you don't live in Mississippi or Louisiana!

There are an endless number of things to worry about when having a baby, but luckily, here in Iowa there are certain things that you can worry about a little less. WalletHub did a study to find out the best and worst states to have a baby in, based off of delivery costs, health-care accessibility and baby friendliness of each state. Specifically, they looked at 17 different categories, including hospital delivery charges, infant care costs, and the number of pediatricians and OB-GYNs in the area, just to name a few.

The state of Iowa did pretty darn well, not breaking the top 10, but coming in at number 14. Out of 50 states and D.C., I'd say that's something to be proud of! Here are the top five states to have a child in (and almost all of them are on the East Coast):

  1. Vermont
  2. Maine
  3. Connecticut
  4. Minnesota
  5. New Hampshire

On the OTHER side of the list, here are the five worst states to have a child in (the south isn't doing so well in this survey):

  1. Mississippi
  2. Louisiana
  3. Alabama
  4. New York
  5. Georgia
