Iowa guard Maishe Dailey has decided to play his senior season at some place other than Iowa. I'm not surprised after what the young man went through this season.

Maishe was the subject of an unflattering comment by Iowa play-by-play announcer Gary Dolphin back in November when comparing Iowa's roster to that of their opponent, Pittsburgh. Thinking he wasn't on the air at the time, Dolphin said: "We get Maishe Dailey who dribbles into a double-team with his head down." Dolphin was suspended for the comment, but how hard must it have been for Dailey going forward?

Dailey, a 6'7" 200 pound native of Beachwood, Ohio averaged 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds during his just-completed junior year. He played in all 35 games.

In a statement, Dailey said,

I would like to thank Coach McCaffery and the coaching staff for the opportunity to be a part of the Iowa program. I want to wish my teammates the best of luck in the future.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery thanked Maishe for being a great teammate and valuable member of the program. He also thanked him for his contributions and wished him the best.

Good luck, Maishe. Not just on finding the school that's a good fit, but for a successful senior season, wherever you end up.
