Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds spoke out about gun control Monday, in the wake of the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Reynolds said that Iowa's current gun laws are "reasonable and responsible". She also stated that the federal government needs to play a larger role in future gun regulations, including expanding background checks.

Governor Reynolds did announce the re-launching of the 'See Something, Say Something' program in Iowa. She encouraged anyone to report suspicious activities to local law enforcement. Iowa public safety officials will partner with the federal government to help promote the campaign. There will be billboards and other advertisements throughout the state.

Reynolds said that preventing mass shootings cannot be only about guns, and should also include reporting suspicious activities and mental health care.
