The Iowa men's basketball program got some help Wednesday thanks to the transfer portal. Hawk Central reports that Manhattan transfer Seydou Traore has committed to the University of Iowa.

The Hawkeyes were looking to add one more player as it had one scholarship remaining for the 2024-25 season. The 6'7" Traore had an outstanding freshman season for Manhattan last year averaging over 11 points and 8 rebounds. Hawk Central reports he also shot 80% from the free-throw line.

Hawk Central reports that Traore was a bit of a streaky shooter from the floor last season. He shot under 30% from the three-point line, but had a stretch of games late in the year where he shot over 40% from three. What he is known for is his athleticism. Traore had 10 games with double-digit rebounds last season, including one game in which he pulled down 17! He also isn't afraid to attack the rim on offense.

Traore should be fun to watch get up and down the court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa's fast-paced offense. He can also play defense, which is something the Hawkeyes can improve on for the upcoming season. Traore averaged 1.3 blocks and 1.5 steals per game last season.

Traore has three seasons of eligibility remaining. Welcome to Iowa Seydou!
