How NOT to be a Bad Houseguest This Holiday Season
If you're going to be staying with friends or relatives for the upcoming holidays, here's a guide on how to not make them all hate you.
I'd like to think I'm a great houseguest, but my mom would probably disagree with you. I do a lot of traveling back and forth from Michigan to Iowa, especially this time of year, and instead of paying a million dollars to stay in a hotel, I just stay in my old bedroom at home. I'll admit that I'm a little less considerate at my mom's house than I would be at anyone else's, but that's because it used to be my home, too.
A new survey done by Home Advisor reveals the biggest houseguest pet peeves, ranked from worst to least worst. Here are the results:
- Staying indefinitely
- Snooping
- Showing up unannounced
- Bringing another guest without warning
- Critiquing the home
- Making a mess in common areas
- Smoking
- Not following house rules
- Being loud at night
- Not disciplining children
If you're going to be a visitor in someone else's home in the next couple of months, keep these in mind. If you're going to be hosting guests... good luck!
