How NOT to be a Bad Houseguest This Holiday Season

If you're going to be staying with friends or relatives for the upcoming holidays, here's a guide on how to not make them all hate you.

I'd like to think I'm a great houseguest, but my mom would probably disagree with you. I do a lot of traveling back and forth from Michigan to Iowa, especially this time of year, and instead of paying a million dollars to stay in a hotel, I just stay in my old bedroom at home. I'll admit that I'm a little less considerate at my mom's house than I would be at anyone else's, but that's because it used to be my home, too.

A new survey done by Home Advisor reveals the biggest houseguest pet peeves, ranked from worst to least worst. Here are the results:

1. Staying indefinitely
2. Snooping
3. Showing up unannounced
4. Bringing another guest without warning
5. Critiquing the home
6. Making a mess in common areas
7. Smoking
8. Not following house rules
9. Being loud at night
10. Not disciplining children
