How Long Have You Lived Here And Not Done These Common Things?

We took a poll recently asking you how long you've lived in Cedar Rapids, and in that time you've never done WHAT very common thing?

The answers varied from never having gone to Hawkeye Downs, Brucemore or the Farmers' Market to never eating at popular restaurants like the Flying Weenie. You don't know what you're missing!

I confess, I have lived in Cedar Rapids for 30 years and have never been to Brucemore or Hawkeye Downs, not even for work. Looks like I need to get out more. But, here is what you said in response to our poll.

Shawn Rudie: "15 years, never gone to a Farmer's Market"

Ann Klaassen: "Lived here for 32 years and I've never been Brucemore."

Josh Baumgartner: "Never been to race at Hawkeye Downs."

Sheryl Carlson Dunshee: "I have lived in CR for 47 years (I lived 5 years in Texas and Kansas) and I have never been to a Roughriders game, went ice skating or been to Paramount Theatre but have wanted to."

Bob Woodland: "35 years and never been to the top of the now parklike (I hear) Mt. Trashmore (but I’ve been to the dump that sits beneath it umpteen times)"

Tyler Tedford: "I have lived in Cedar Rapids for 6 years and I have never eaten at Flying Weenie!"  (It's been even longer than that for several others).

Angie Denison: "38+ years and I have never gone to a Hawkeyes Game or the Ice Rink."

Some had a little snarkier take on the answer:

Kevin Curl: "25 years and never seen an honest city hall..."

While for others, "Iowa Nice" is what makes this place stand out the most.

Beth McDougall: "I lived in Cedar Rapids for 9 years and I’ve never met a person I didn’t like."
