Honor a Local 2020 Graduate on KHAK Next Week

A few weeks ago when Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced that Iowa schools would be ending their year early, our minds immediately went to of all the local high school seniors. What about prom? Senior parties? Final sports seasons? Final performances? Graduation? Our hearts went out to all of the teens who would be missing out on some of the big events that they've been looking forward to for years. Some Eastern Iowa schools have come up with new ways to hold graduation ceremonies or have postponed prom to later this summer in hopes that things will be closer to "normal," but still, it's not what grads were expecting.

Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do to make the world go back to normal in time for these big events. But, we can give parents, family members, and friends of graduates a chance to honor them on our station! Beginning next week, we will begin airing tributes to local graduates throughout the day. It's the very least we can do to show our support in these difficult times.

This is where you come in! If you love a local grad here in Eastern Iowa, we need you to record a quick tribute to them using the KHAK app. Each tribute must include the graduate's name and school. You can add in a little something extra, too! But, EACH RECORDING MUST BE NO MORE THAN 15 SECONDS. If it is longer than that, we will have to edit it down to fit the time restraints.

If you've never used the recording feature on the free KHAK app, it's super easy to do! Here are some step-by-step instructions to help you out:

1. In the upper left-hand corner of the app home page, click the three horizontal lines
2. About halfway down, click the button that says "Submit Photo/Video/Audio"
3. Fill out the boxes with your name and phone number - for "Description of Media" write: "2020 Graduate"
4. Click the button that says "SELECT AND SUBMIT MEDIA NOW"
5. Click "Record Short Audio Clip," record the clip (15 seconds or less), and send it to us!

We will be airing your tributes on KHAK throughout the entire week, so be sure to send one in! Thank you in advance for helping us honor the Class of 2020!
