Friday Night Football Coming to Kinnick Stadium in April
The lights will be on at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City the night of Friday, April 21 and the pigskin will be flying.
The conclusion of Iowa's spring football practices ends with an open practice at Kinnick each spring on a Saturday afternoon. However, not this year. The University of Iowa has announced that our first look at the 2017 Hawkeyes will be at night. It will still be free for attendees. Though not determined yet, Land of 10 says it will likely start at either 7 or 8 p.m. and could be televised on the Big Ten Network or the channel's website. There could be some competition for that television time slot since Wisconsin will also hold their open spring practice that night.
Iowa begins spring practice for the 2017 season two weeks from today, on March 22. Central Iowa fans will again have a chance to see the Hawks in action this spring, with a practice in West Des Moines April 7. Both will provide the first extended looks at the man likely to be Iowa's new starting quarterback, sophomore Nathan Stanley (#4).
The season opener may still be six months away (September 2 versus Wyoming), but it's never too early to start thinking about Iowa football.
