There's nothing like the sound of your sump pump running in October to remind you that sometimes, fall can get off to a wet start. Portions of Eastern Iowa have seen between 2 and 6 inches of rain the past several days and rivers and streams are beginning to show the signs. Manchester is no stranger to problems with flooding and the Maquoketa River is once again rearing its ugly head.

The Iowa Department of Transportation says that Highway 13 is closed in both directions in the city of Manchester. The Maquoketa River is out of its banks and has flooded portions of the city. A detour is in place that will take motorists along West Marion Street to avoid the floodwaters.

The Maquoketa River is expected to stay in major flood stage through Thursday before falling on Friday. But more rain is forecast for the area late Friday night into Saturday.
