The New Fieldhouse Bar & Grill in Iowa City Opens Next Week

Fieldhouse Bar & Grill in Iowa City has had to postpone their grand opening "due to some unexpected last-minute issues." They now plan to open during the first week in November. For the latest updates, you can follow the official Facebook page HERE.

Fieldhouse Bar & Grill is back! The longtime Iowa City bar has found a new home and is finally ready to open its doors!

About Fieldhouse Bar

University of Iowa students have been visiting Fieldhouse since it opened back in 1975. The Daily Iowan reports that it was originally located on College Street, but moved to 118 S Dubuque Street in the early 2000s. This years marks Fieldhouse's 50th anniversary, which will be celebrated in a new home, the bar's third location.

New Location

Fieldhouse has found its new home at 138 S Clinton Street, right next to Yotopia and directly across the street from the Old Capitol Mall. The new location is almost double the size of the old one, with two stories and two bars. They also plan to offer pizza to hungry bar-goers, with the possibility of adding more menu items in the future. The business' Facebook page says that the ultimate goal is to bring back "the old time feel of Fieldhouse, with a new look and location."

Since the announcement of Fieldhouse's relocation, construction has been underway. We don't have a reveal of the finished project just yet, but there have been a few progress photos shared on social media, like the one below:

Grand Opening

The new Fieldhouse is set to open to the public this Wednesday, October 29th at 9 p.m. Regular business hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to close. You can get the latest updates on the business' new Facebook page HERE.

Hazzard County Iowa City

If you're wondering what took over the former Fieldhouse location at 118 S Dubuque Street, that would be Hazzard County! The popular Downtown Cedar Rapids bar expanded to Iowa City's Ped Mall in early August, just in time for the new school year. For more information, you can check out their Facebook page HERE.
