A Fairbank man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with an altercation involving another man.

The incident happened on Sept. 28. According to Fayette County sheriff's officials, deputies were sent to the 200 block of Willow Road to investigate a report of two men arguing. However, both men had fled the scene by the time authorities arrested.

Sheriff's officials said they learned from their investigation that 49-year-old Brian Beesecker got into an argument with the other man and the altercation turned physical. Beesecker allegedly armed himself with a weapon, then attempted to stab the other man.

After Beesecker fled, authorities issued a warrant for his arrest. He was eventually taken into custody by sheriff's deputies in Black Hawk County.

Beesecker was later transferred to the Fayette County Jail in West Union. His bond was set at $50,000.

The incident remains under investigation by Fayette County sheriff's officials. More charges may be filed, authorities said.
