After two long years, it's finally here!

The five best days of summer here in Eastern Iowa will officially kick off tomorrow, and we could not be more excited. The Great Jones County Fair in Monticello is set to run this Wednesday through Sunday, and there's a seemingly endless number of events, concerts, and activities that you and the family can participate in.

Yesterday, the Great Jones County Fair Facebook page outlined some of the most commonly asked fair questions, so we thought we would do a break down of everything you need to know before heading out to Monticello. All information listed below is straight from the Great Jones County Fair website, so feel free to check that out HERE if you have any additional questions.

How Much Does it Cost?

Daily gate admission for the fair will cost you $10, with kids ages 10 and under getting in free. It's important to note that admission is NOT included in the cost of an event ticket, so even if you have a ticket for one of the concerts, you will still have to pay to get into the fair.

How Do I Buy Drinks?

If you are interested in having some adult beverages at this year's fair, you will once again need to purchase a blend card. You can stop at the designated area to add money to the card via cash or credit, and then you can just swipe the card to buy your drink. Also, be aware that in addition to the blend cards, cash WILL be accepted on the track.

Can I Watch the Grandstand Concerts for Free?

As always, fairgoers will have access to free seating on the grass over on the hillside. Blankets/tarps will be allowed on grass beginning at 8 a.m. each day. The maximum size tarp allowed is 8X8 feet, and tarps CANNOT be taped together. The line to save a spot on the hill typically begins before 8 a.m. each day, so you'll want to arrive early.

What Are the Grandstand Concerts for the 2021 Fair?

  • Dan + Shay with opener Gavin DeGraw: Thursday, July 22nd at 8 p.m.
  • Zac Brown Band with opener Ross Ellis: Friday, July 23rd at 8 p.m.
  • Kane Brown with openers Midland and Restless Road: Saturday, July 24th at 7:30 p.m.
  • For King & Country with opener Zach Williams: Sunday, July 25th at 7 p.m.

You can purchase tickets for all the Grandstand events HERE.

What Else is there to do Besides the Grandstand Concerts?

To put it simply... a LOT. The Great Jones County Fair website has a schedule listed for every single day of the fair, which you can check out HERE. Some of the popular activities include carnival rides, a kids' zone, live entertainment and music on other stages, a tractor pull, a whole bunch of different contests you can participate in, and a nightly fireworks display. This year will also feature a wild west gunfight stunt show, the Flying Cortes Trapeze Spectacular, a 9' tall interactive robot that wanders the fairgrounds, Moto-X, harness racing, and stock car racing.

Can I Get a Map of the Fairgrounds?

You sure can!
