If you are a first responder, your lunch today is covered!

Today is September 11th, which marks 18 years since the horrific day where 2,977 people lost their lives and over 6,000 others were injured. 412 of the people who died that day were first responders, including police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians. Edith Lucielle's Bait Shack & Wing Depot in Cedar Rapids is honoring the hard work of all first responders today with a free lunch.

Today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the restaurant, located at 6913 Mount Vernon Road SE, will be serving a free lunch to ALL first responders. That includes EMTs, firefighters, police officers, dispatchers, and nurses. I spoke to the owner Eric this morning, and he informed me that the free meal will consist of their smoked pulled pork and fries, but that they can be flexible "as we want to show gratitude to anyone that is in this line of work."

If you've never been before, Edith Lucielle's is a FANTASTIC restaurant. Every single thing I've ever ordered has been delicious (and I've been there MANY times), so if you plan to stop by today, you're in good hands! For any additional questions, you can send the restaurant a message on their Facebook page HERE.

We have also been informed that Pita'z Mediterranean and American Cuisine in Hiawatha will also be offering free meals to first responders today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.! Here is the post from their Facebook page:
