Downtown Cedar Rapids Slowly Growing Upward

Another big sign of progress in downtown Cedar Rapids lately has been the sound of structural steel being pounded into the ground for what will eventually become the new corporate headquarters for CRST International. The $37 million dollar building is just beginning to take shape in a downtown location that has seen more than a few things the last few years. You may even have spent some time partying there with us a couple summers ago.

The CRST building's location is directly across from the soon to close Smulekoff's, along First Street Southeast, between Second and Third Avenue.

I stopped by there earlier this week as the landscape begins to change.
