Do You Agree With Iowa’s Biggest New Year’s Resolution?
It's a new year, which means new resolutions. We all have our goals as we start the new year, but somehow 2021 feels different. After the mess 2020 was and how much we lost, so many people are ready for some serious change.
While some people spent time working on themselves during quarantine, others gained weight, lost their jobs, and binge-watched television. Zippia used Google Trends to look at common resolution search queries in each state (such as "weight loss"). Then, they "determined each state’s most 'uniquely searched resolution' from the list" by analyzing what was searched more than other states in the U.S to determine each state's most popular new year's resolution. Based on the findings, people are going to need therapy.
That's because it turns out that the top search was therapy, which makes sense after the year 2020 was. Iowans are focused on something different though. We want to save money in 2021. That's a bit different from our 2020 resolution of exercising more.
As you can see from the map, only a couple of other states share our goal. Saving money is something everyone should aspire to do in the new year, especially as we've seen job loss due to COVID. What are your goals for the new year?
