Crazy For Bacon – And This Guy Doesn’t Quite Get It

So this past Saturday was KHAK's 2nd Annual Baconfest.Last year when we had our first one, I was out of town, so I couldn't go.  Now I have heard quite a bit about people and their love of this salted, cured meat.  Me?  Give me two slices with a couple of fried eggs and a piece of toast and I am good to go.  But not this crowd....no way.  I was able to sample everything from apples with bacon caramel to bacon maple ice cream, to just bacon.  It was honestly fun to watch people scramble to find the best samples.  I felt sorry for the poor waitstaff at NewBo who would come out with a tray full of some type of bacon dish and she'd barely make it three steps out the door and be mobbed.  There were even people dressed up in bacon-wear (see pic).

I know that plans are in place for next year's Baconfest III are underway.  It still isn't going to change my take on bacon.  When in comes to breakfast meats I would must rather have a few good old Jimmy Dean pork links on my plate.  Any chance we could get a "sausage fest" going on?
