It seems like forever since I've visited a new restaurant (even though it's only been a little over a month)! Back in January, I made a New Year's resolution to try a new restaurant in Eastern Iowa every month of 2017. So far I've stuck to my goal. Actually, I've already exceeded my initial number of 12! Last week I checked off two new restaurants from my list, and I had them both on the same day.We were in Iowa City hosting Radiothon at the UI Children's Hospital on Thursday and Friday, so I figured it would be the perfect time to hit a couple of places down there.

Let's start with the restaurant that I had on my initial list that I posted in the beginning of the year: Blackstone in Iowa City. Many people know that I'm a connoisseur/lover of mac & cheese, so this place was recommended to me based on that alone. I obviously had to try some...

Everybody was right - it was some of the best mac & cheese I've ever had in my life. I wish I would've gotten a full order instead of a side. The fries were also stinkin' amazing. Hot, crispy, and delicious!

I was also able to try a coworker's Buffalo chicken tenders. You can't really tell from the photo, but these things were ENORMOUS!

The food was great, the service was great, and the atmosphere was great. We couldn't have asked for a better restaurant!

The other restaurant I visited last Thursday was a place that has a Cedar Rapids location opening up soon: Fuzzy's Taco Shop in Coralville. Fuzzy's was located right next to our hotel, and it was $5 nachos day, so how could I possibly say no?

Now, I'm pretty much an expert when it comes to nachos, and I have to say that these were GOOD. Like, really good. I really appreciate places that don't skimp out on the cheese. I was also a big fan of their chicken. Now I can't wait for the Cedar Rapids location to open up!

For September I'm thinking of stopping at Beer Burger in North Liberty or Zoey's Pizza in Marion. Have any other suggestions for me? Feel free to leave them in the comments!
