*Sobs uncontrollably*

I'm going to try to make this review as spoiler-free as possible, but if I let a few minor details slip, I apologize.

Last night I took myself to the movies to go see the new Marvel/Wolverine movie "Logan," and I honestly don't think there's anything about it that I didn't absolutely love. I mean, aside from the two huge soul-crushing moments that occurred, of course. About halfway through the flick, I decided that I never wanted the movie to end. It was one of the only times in my life that I wished a movie would be longer than it already was. So yeah, this is obviously going to be a very positive movie review.

In case you don't know what "Logan" is about, here's a summary from IMDB:

"In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X somewhere on the Mexican border. However, Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are upended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces."

Wolverine is one of my absolute favorite superheroes, and I've felt that way since the very first time he appeared on screen. When I heard that "Logan" was going to be the final Wolverine movie, I was devastated, but I knew that they were going to do it right. And boy, did they ever. I thought the acting in the film from Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart was phenomenal (per usual), but I was even more impressed by Dafne Keen, who was only 11-years-old while filming her role as Laura. She didn't say much over the course of the movie, but I think that makes her acting even more impressive. I hope that we will get to see more of her as Laura in the future.

Overall, I thought the movie did a great job of bringing everything full-circle, and I liked that the ending set things up for a new future of X-Men. I also very much enjoyed the progression of both the Logan and Laura characters. The way they developed in that two hours and 17 minutes felt so raw and real, and I wish I could say that I didn't see the ending coming, but I think most people figure it out pretty early on in the movie. I would really like to know what happened leading up to "Logan" though, because they leave a lot of it up to the imagination, but I imagine that will be explained in a later flick.

And just in case you're wondering: yes, it definitely deserved it's R-rating. The movie is very violent and gory, but none of it felt necessary to the plot.

If you love the X-Men, go see this movie. If you love Marvel, go see this movie. Heck, even if you're not a big fan of superhero movies, you should still go see this movie. It's really THAT good. Bring some tissues, though, because it will make you ugly cry more than once...

For those of you that already saw the movie, what did you think? Share yours thoughts in the comments section.
