I Rode Cedar Point’s Terrifying New Rollercoaster [WATCH]
After more than a decade, I finally had another chance to visit my favorite amusement park of all time this month: Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio! It's a bit of a haul from Eastern Iowa, but from my hometown in Michigan, it's only about 2.5 hours. Since I was back in Michigan for my summer vacation, I took the opportunity to bring one of my coaster-loving Iowa friends to the park for the very first time. We had a BLAST, especially on some of the newer rides!
Siren's Curse
About a year ago, we told you about a new, one-of-a-kind rollercoaster being built here in the Midwest. Siren's Curse is the "tallest, longest, fastest tilt coaster in North America," and it officially opened at Cedar Point this summer. If you're wondering what a "tilt coaster" is, here's a little video I took during our visit to the park:
I'm not gonna lie, that six seconds of being 90 degrees and looking straight down at the ground was absolutely terrifying. The second we were strapped in, I began to regret my decision. Especially with the spooky siren sounds that they play right before you drop! But I'm so glad we did it, because it was AWESOME. It was definitely worth the extra-long wait.
Other Rides
In addition to Siren's Curse, these are the other rides we rode at Cedar Point:
- Raptor
- maXair
- GateKeeper
- Rougaru
- Steel Vengeance
- Valravn
As much as I loved Siren's Curse, I think Steel Vengeance was my favorite of the day! It arrived in 2018, and according to the park's website:
"Steel Vengeance opened as an unmatched world-record breaker with some serious stats: 205 feet tall, 74 miles per hour, longest hybrid coaster in the world at 5,740 feet and almost 30 seconds of airtime - the most airtime on ANY roller coaster in the world - along with twists, turns and close calls during the 2 minute, 30 second ride."
I am super bummed I didn't get to ride my #1 favorite coaster, though. Both times we tried to get in line for the Millennium Force, it broke down. I had raved about it to my friend in the days leading up to our visit, so I was disappointed that she didn't get the opportunity to experience it.
What I Learned for Next Time
I'm used to waiting in line at Cedar Point. After all, I've been doing it since I was 11. But, one of my only complaints about my visit in 2025 is the Fast Lane. The wait times for some of the coasters ended up being much longer than reported, and it's because of riders with Fast Lane passes.
Not surprisingly, Siren's Curse was the worst. The line would go really long stretches without moving an inch, because the fast pass line was being cleared constantly, which left very little space on the ride for the rest of us. There were points where the majority of us ended up just sitting on the ground during our wait.
The line for Steel Vengeance was also very stagnant at times, except it was made worse by the herd of preteen boys with Fast Lane passes that walked right up to the front of line and loudly complained that we were being let on before them (despite the fact that we had been in line for well over an hour). There was at least one comment made about the financial status of us general admission ticket holders, too.
On my next trip to Cedar Point, I think I'll consider investing in getting Fast Lane passes. We paid around $60 (with fees) for a standard ticket, and it looks like the Fast Lane Plus passes start at $125. Not terrible, but in addition to 5 hours worth of gas, the $38 for parking, and food & drinks throughout the day, things can get expensive very quickly. It might be worth it to get to ride more of the rides, though.
