The $2 dollar bill. Chances are you don't use them very often, but you may have a few lying around in a desk at home. But you might want to break out the envelope and take a look at those $2 bills a bit more carefully. They could be worth a whole lot more than just two dollars!

You're probably saying to yourself, how old does a $2 bill have to be to be worth a lot of money? You might be surprised. Yahoo reports that bills printed as recently as 2003 could also have significant value. According to the folks at Heritage Auctions, a $2 bill from 2003 with a very low serial number recently sold at auction for $2,400. It then RESOLD for $4,000! Yahoo reports that uncirculated $2 bills from nearly every year up to 1917 can be worth up to $1,000.

Another thing to check on your $2 bill other than the serial number, is the color of the seal. Yahoo reports that bills with a red seal can sell from $3 up to $2500! Those with brown or blue seals can sell for several hundred dollars. Officials say that there are over 1.2 billion $2 bills still in circulation, but for various reasons, they remain unpopular for most of the paying public. Some don't like using them to make change, and others simply find them unlucky. Personally, I don't have a problem spending money no matter how big or small the bill is!
