Cedar River Landing Closing to Make Way For BBQ Restaurant
It is a time of transition for the bar and restaurant known as Cedar River Landing in Cedar Rapids. The longtime watering hole located at 301 F Ave. NW has announced that it is closing soon. But we already know what will be taking its place.
KCRG reports that Cedar River Landing will be closing its doors for good this week. Its last day of business will be on Christmas Day. The owners of the bar and grill said in a social media post that they are closing and plan to sell the business. However, we don't have to wait to find out what will be going into the building along F Avenue in Cedar Rapids!
According to a Facebook post, Cedar Rapids Midnight Smoker BBQ is purchasing the CRL building with plans to serve its amazing BBQ food at the new location. Midnight Smoker opened in the Newbo City Market in October of 2022 according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Owner Greg Stoll got his start making Carolina-style BBQ for his family. He turned his passion into a business and began to make his own rubs and sauces.
According to the Facebook post, CR Midnight Smoker BBQ will move into the Cedar River Landing building in January and hopes to open sometime in February. They'll have many favorite BBQ items from the Newbo location but also plan to add more menu items moving forward. CR Midnight Smoker BBQ also says that live music will continue at its new location too.
