Cedar Rapids Postpones The Roundup
The bummer summer of 2020 continues to unfold in Eastern Iowa.
The traditional smells, tastes, and sounds that make up the summer atmosphere in downtown Cedar Rapids are going to missed as another summer staple makes changes due to Coronavirus pandemic concerns.
A VenuWorks press release received by e-mail confirms that "The Roundup", formerly known as the Cedar Rapids BBQ Roundup, is postponed and will not be held in 2020.
Festivities surrounding this year's event, originally scheduled for June 25-27 at the McGrath Amphitheatre, will now take place at next year's Roundup, now scheduled for June 24-26, 2021. An amazing music lineup that will feature Pure Prairie League, Orleans, A Flock of Seagulls and Men Without Hats have all confirmed they will play the rescheduled event next year, along with local favorites Surf Zombies.
As for tickets, those who purchased them for "The Roundup" this year should hold onto them, as they will be valid for next year. Ticketholders are being notified of other options as well.
The executive director of VenuWorks, Michael Silva, stated via a press release, "the health and safety of our guests and employees is always the number one priority". He called it the right thing to do to postpone the event "until large crowds can gather safely again"
Guests are encouraged to visit the McGrath Amphitheatre on Facebook for the latest updates. Ticketholders with further questions are being directed to the U.S. Cellular Center box office online or by phone at (319) 731-4510.
