According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, a man called 911 early Thursday afternoon to report he was the victim of multiple stab wounds. He also told them he didn't know where he was. The Johnson County Emergency Communications Center was able to determine, via 911 GPS mapping, that he was north of F.W. Kent Park.

When Johnson County Sheriff's deputies arrived, they found the male victim in the Hawkeye Wildlife Management Area, near the intersection of Swan Lake Road and Greencastle Avenue. He was "bleeding profusely," suffering from four stab wounds in his back.

The man told police that Ronald Gonterman (pictured above), 66, of Cedar Rapids, had stabbed him, fired several shots at him with a semi-automatic pistol and also had attempted to run over him with his truck. According to Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek, "We don't have a reason. They were supposedly off chatting."

The Gazette reports Gonterman was later arrested by Cedar Rapids Police at his Cedar Rapids home. He is now being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond. He's been charged with Attempted Murder, a Class B felony.
