A delicious Cedar Rapids festival is coming up quick! The St. Ludmila Kolach Festival is happening this Friday through Sunday, June 7th through 9th!

The main feature of the Kolach Festival is, you guessed it, kolaches! If you're not familiar with the Czech treat, Google says that it's "a type of sweet pastry that holds a portion of fruit surrounded by puffy yeast dough."

Kolaches are available during festival hours, as well as Friday and Saturday morning from 6 to 9 (or until sold out) via a drive-thru. The cost is $2 for one, $9 for a half-dozen, and $18 for a dozen. Cash and card are both accepted, but there is NO pre-order. This year's flavors include:

  • Prune
  • Apricot
  • Apple
  • Rhubarb
  • Poppyseed
  • Strawberry
  • Cherry

A Facebook comment from the church promises "a constant stream of fresh and delicious kolaches available for sale throughout the weekend," so don't worry about the supply! A Facebook post from 2022 said that the goal that year was to make around 45,000 kolaches.

In addition to lots and lots of kolaches, the festival also includes live music, a beer & wine garden, a silent auction, bingo, a raffle, and a 'Kiddieland.' A $10 Kiddieland wristband will allow for unlimited access all weekend to inflatables and games.
