The Cedar Rapids Metro’s Five Best Candy Shops
They say the most romantic gift you can give on Valentine's Day is candy. I can hardly disagree. And we're in luck because the Cedar Rapids metro has some of the best candy shops in the Midwest.
If you grew up in Cedar Rapids we're sure you have your favorites, so here's my vote for the Top Five Candy Shops in the Cedar Rapids metro area:

Five Below
Five Below is technically not a Candy Store, and certainly not a Chocolate Shop. But if you're old enough to remember penny candy, you'll appreciate Five Below for their efforts to keep the tradition alive. As kids we loved Sugar Babies, Black Jacks, Mary Janes, Slow-Pokes and Smarties. You can find many of the old time favorites here, and at decent prices.

Almost Famous Popcorn Company
Popcorn, homemade fudge, candy and ice cream are the first things I think of when we shop and bop into New Bo. This cozy shop is filled with plenty of goodies that will satisfy your sweet tooth cravings.

The Chocolate Shop
The Chocolate Shop 1244 7th Ave. Marion is one of those quaint uptown shops you just love to pop into whenever you have the craving for a good piece of fine chocolate. The Chocolate Shop is always popular especially around the holidays and during Marion's lively Uptown event nights. There's a good reason for that, their selections are delicious.

Simply Divine Candy Shop
Simply Divine Candy Shop at 329 3rd Ave SE Downtown Cedar Rapids is a favorite stop for downtown workers folks attending shows at the Paramount Theatre. Not only do they stock a large assortment of sweets, they have a beautiful corner-store window display at one of the premier downtown intersections of 3rd Ave and 2nd St. SE

Betty Jane Candies
My choice for #1 is easy: Betty Jane Candies in the Collins Road Square Shopping Center. Based in Dubuque, they've expanded to Cedar Rapids and been making fine chocolates here for years. Betty Jane stocks everything from truffles to toffees and caramels to nuts. I recommend the Gremlins! Betty Jane is award-winning candy, with top scores from People Magazine and Taste of Home. Yes. they know a thing or two about chocolate, they've been in the business since 1938.
