Cedar Rapids Couple Feeding Hungry Receive Special Gift From ABC-TV [WATCH]

A Cedar Rapids couple that's been providing free meals to local families ever since the August 10 derecho got a huge lift this morning, courtesy of ABC-TV's Good Morning America.

Bridgette Williams-Robinson and Jovountae Robinson, parents of seven kids, have been operating Bridge Under the Bridge since the day after the storm struck. They provide free meals under the 8th Avenue bridge near the corner of 8th Avenue and 3rd Street Southwest in Cedar Rapids. They're there every day except Saturday each week.

The Robinsons' personal story makes what they've done even more amazing. Eight years ago, they were homeless, with five children, when they decided to move to Cedar Rapids. It's here that the family was able to get back on their feet. Over the last four months, they've been doing everything they can to help others stay that way.

It's turned into more than free food for families that need it. Last Sunday, December 20, Bridge Under the Bridge worked with a number of local businesses for a toy drive.

This morning, ABC's Good Morning America (GMA) did a segment on the derecho's impact in Cedar Rapids and how the Robinson family has stepped up to help. GMA also surprised the couple with a brand new food trailer so they'll be able to get out of Iowa's winter weather, but still provide hot meals in the coming months.
