A New Cedar Rapids Restaurant is Opening a Second Location
Good news if you're a fan of Captains Fish and Chicken in Cedar Rapids! The restaurant is just about ready to open up a second location within the city.
When Did Captains Fish and Chicken First Open in Cedar Rapids?
Captains opened at 1616 1st Ave NE, the space most recently home to Gutamex Restaurant Elenita, back in October of 2024. It appears that the new eatery has seen some success over the past seven months, because now they're opening another Cedar Rapids location over on the southwest side of town!
Where is the New Captains?
According to the business' Facebook page, the second Captains Fish & Chicken is over at 3100 6th St SW, right next to Checkers Tavern. Bea's Cafe was recently located there, but closed last October after more than six years in business.
What Does the Restaurant Serve?
As you probably guess from the name, Captains Fish and Chicken is known for... well, fish and chicken! The extensive menu features wings, chicken tenders, boneless chicken bites, legs & thighs, gizzards, perch, tilapia, catfish, cod, crab cakes, calamari, and red snapper. And, don't forget about the sides! Options include mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, fries, okra, onion rings, hush puppies, cheese curds, and more.
When Does the New Captains Fish and Chicken Open?
Late yesterday afternoon (May 13th), Captains posted that they were holding a soft opening at the SW side location. They haven't posted an official grand opening date, but it sounds like they're getting close! The phone number is 319-362-3114. For the latest updates, check out the restaurant's Facebook page HERE.
