Caitlin Clark Draws HUGE Crowds to LPGA Pro Am Event [VIDEO]
Caitlin Clark is used to playing in front of a large crowd. So when throngs of people turned out to watch her tee off at 7 a.m. in an LPGA Pro-Am, the Iowa native wasn't fazed. Fans and other professional golfers stopped to watch the WNBA star play a round at the The Annika, a tournament hosted by LPGA legend Annika Sorenstam.
ESPN reports that Clark played the front nine with Kelly Korda, the #1 player on the LPGA Tour. She played the back nine with tournament host Sorenstam. When asked if she picked up any tips from Korda, Clark replied, "I've watched and she's amazing...but golf is hard." Yes, it is Caitlin. Yes, it is. But Korda new that this round was about more than just golf. ESPN reports that Korda was struck by how many people came out to watch Clark play, and the influence she has on young fans.
So how is Clark's golf game? ESPN reports that Korda was impressed with how Clark struck the ball, considering she doesn't get out to the course much due to her busy schedule. Korda noted that Clark picks up the ball really clean, but loses a few shots to the right. Hey, don't we all? It was her iron game where Clark really stood out. He showed nice control in her mid-irons and a nice touch on the greens.
But, Clark also proved that she is not a professional golfer, at least not yet. Fans on the course also caught a video of this errant Clark tee shot. I'm not judging her at all as I've hit so many that were worse than this!
This wasn't Clark's first round of professional golf. She played with Zach Johnson at the John Deere Classic Pro-Am last summer on the PGA Tour.
