Theatre Cedar Rapids is gearing up for a new season, and there are a total of ten shows in the lineup!

On Friday, May 13th, Theatre Cedar Rapids made a big announcement. They revealed the shows that they'll be doing for the 2022/2023 season, including seven shows at the theatre and three outdoor productions at Brucemore!

The season will kick off Friday, October 14th at the Grandon Studio with the play Misery, a stage adaptation of the famous Stephen King novel from 1987. It will run through Saturday, October 29th.

Next up is the musical Meet Me in St. Louis, which is based on the hit 1944 movie starring Judy Garland. It will be showing in the main auditorium from Friday, November 18th through Sunday, December 18th.

The first show in 2023 is the 1966 musical Cabaret, a popular show set in 1929/1930 Berlin at a nightclub called the Kit Kat Klub. According to Wikipedia, the dramatic production takes place "during the twilight of the Jazz Age as the Nazis are ascending to power." Cabaret will also debut in the main auditorium and run from Friday, February 10th to Sunday, March 5th.

Beginning Friday, February 24th, A Doll's House parts one and two will take the stage at the Grandon Studio. It first debuted back in 1879 and "revolves around one marriage in the 19th century, but reveals insights into timeless topics like gender roles, economic justice, love and deceit," according to the Daily Emerald. It runs through Saturday, March 11th.

The fifth show on the schedule is The Play That Goes Wrong. The official website describes it as a "hilarious hybrid of Monty Python and Sherlock Holmes." The play will kick off in the auditorium Friday, March 24th and run through Sunday, April 2nd.

A month later, The Spongebob Musical will begin its run in the main auditorium. The musical first launched in 2016 and it based on the Nickelodeon series SpongeBob SquarePants. There are dates from Wednesday, May 5th through Sunday, May 28th.

The final show of the season to take place at Theatre Cedar Rapids is the musical Rock of Ages. The show is set in the 1980s, and according to Wikipedia, features songs from "Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Europe, among other well-known rock bands." The production runs from Friday, June 23rd through Sunday, July 23rd.

The three outdoor productions set for Brucemore in the summer of 2023 include
The Book of Will, The Neverending Story, and A Little Night Music.
