Iowa will party on Super Bowl Sunday.

On Friday, Governor Kim Reynolds announced new orders and will relax public health measures in time for restaurants and bars to open at full capacity for the big game Sunday afternoon.

For better or worse, the measures that had been in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Iowa are being relaxed. The expectation is that turnouts will be huge for Super Bowl Sunday parties at bars and restaurants with no capacity limitations or mask mandates in place.

According to Iowa's News Now, the new proclamation from Reynolds will lift the state's mask requirement for public indoor spaces starting Sunday, February 7 at 12:01 a.m.

That means a Super Bowl Sunday that could give local bar and restaurant owners a financial chance to recoup some of 2020's losses. At the very least, a big Sunday crowd could make up for revenue lost last year with St. Patrick's Day cancelations.

Measures previously put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 inside businesses are also being lifted.

Fans are anticipating one of the most exciting championship football games of all time on February 7 between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Bucs in Super Bowl 55.
