What a weekend. I'm sure a lot of you can probably say that as you head back to work today. Hopefully, your two days of freedom were filled with the things you enjoy and you were with the people you love. Mine sure was. So let's kick things off with Friday!

Friday was the day that there was finally going to be a new trailer for Star Wars Episode 9. We had no plot, no title, nothing. Star Wars Celebration was happening in nearby Chicago and at the end of a panel discussion with the cast of the upcoming movie, we finally got a teaser. It was worth the wait.

Where do I start? Lando is back! Carrie Fischer has scenes! And at the end of the trailer...the return of Emperor Palpatine? And just who is the Skywalker the title is referring to? I'm totally geeked out over this and I have to wait until DECEMBER? Not fair J.J. Abrams, not fair.

Also on Friday night, Courtlin and I got to host the annual Make A Wish gala in Cedar Rapids. It is a night filled with great food, beverage sampling, a live auction, and of course, all the money goes to make wishes possible for kids right here in Iowa. It's such a powerful evening, we're honored to be asked back each year.

Flash forward to Sunday. It was a huge day in the Brainard household as our oldest, Chase, was being confirmed. As a teenager, Chase didn't fully understand the importance of the day, but it brought back tons of memories for me. Our entire family was there at church and we got to stand up with Chase as he became a member of the congregation. He'll take his first communion with us on Thursday night. It was truly a wonderful moment shared with so many great friends and family members.

And then, as we were enjoying our brunch at Sally's on Broadway in Springville, I decided to check my phone and see who was up at The Masters' golf tournament. It turns out some guy named Tiger Woods was up 2 shots headed to the 18th. Yes, that Tiger Woods. Tiger bogeyed the 18th for a one-shot win and his first Masters' title since 2005. It was official. Tiger was back!

So to recap, a new trailer for one of my favorite movies, a historic win for one of my favorite athletes, and my son being confirmed in church in front of God and family. Not a bad weekend.
