Nintendo recently unveiled their online service for the Nintendo Switch gaming system. We love our Switch and the kids are the main reason why. They love playing games like Mario Kart and Let's Dance. I'll admit it. Dad likes playing them too. But one of the cool features included in the online service is a selection of retro games originally featured on the NES and SNES game systems.

Some of these games are classics. Super Marion Brothers. Donkey Kong. Tecmo Bowl. These are some of the games that I first played on my Nintendo game system back in the 1980's. Yes, they hold a large amount of nostalgia. But graphically they don't hold a candle to the games of 2018. I wasn't sure my kids would be interested in playing a bunch of games featuring square-headed people kicking around a ball that wasn't round. I was wrong.

Cayleigh is in love with these 'old' games. She loves Excitebike and Donkey Kong. She loves playing Pro Wrestling and Soccer. She even gets mad when she can't get the serve down on Tennis. I'm sure I looked very similar when I lost all my lives playing Super Marion Brothers 3 when I was a kid. Nintendo plans on adding even more retro titles to their online library in the coming months. I can't wait to see what game from my childhood pops up next.

It just goes to show you that sometimes, kids aren't wowed by the latest graphics and technology. Sometimes the simplicity of having fun is enough. Sometimes.
