Who can resist a dunk tank? Throwing balls at the target in an effort to make someone fall into a tank of water has been a carnival tradition for decades. I was asked earlier this year if I would be willing to be 'dunked' for charity. I thought, hey...it'll be late June. I'm sure it will be hot and the water will feel refreshing! The high on Saturday is 70. But I'll be in the tank no matter what!

The dunk tank is all part of the 7th Annual Cleaning Up Cancer Carnival. The event runs from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m. this Saturday at Salem United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. There will be tons of games, unlimited bounce houses for the kids, and of course the chance to soak people like me in the dunk tank.

All the proceeds from the event go to a group called Time In A Bottle. This public charity in Linn County will go into homes of families facing potential terminal illnesses and clean their entire home. Let's face it. With all these families have going on in their lives, cleaning probably isn't real high on their priority list. But Time In A Bottle will come in and provide the family with a clean and healthy home they can enjoy.

This year's carnival is also a Freedom Festival event so wear your button for five free game tickets! If you want to dunk your's truly, I'll be in the hot seat starting at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Warm up your arm and donate to a great cause!
