The things we're willing to do for the sake of entertainment!

Earlier this week, Food Network star Molly Yeh went viral for a recipe of hers that was posted on social media back in February. In the video, Molly shows viewers how to make something called Crunchy Snap Pea Popcorn Salad. If you're confused by the title, just wait until you hear what's in it!

Molly says that the recipe is a "riff on an iconic Midwestern dish," which has many of us Midwesterners confused. Popcorn salad? Brain and I have lived in the Midwest our entire lives and we've never tried ANYTHING like that before. Plus, it sounds pretty disgusting. In addition to popcorn and snap peas, the recipe also calls for mayo, sour cream, apple cider vinegar, sugar, Dijon mustard, carrots, celery, and white cheddar popcorn seasoning.

We discussed this viral video on the air earlier this week, and curiosity got the best of me. I asked Brain if he would be willing to try the dish if I made it, and he begrudgingly agreed. So, last night I went out and bought *almost* all of the ingredients and whipped it up!

The recipe was easy to follow, but I did leave out the watercress and the shallot. They just felt unnecessary. In hindsight, I probably should've waited to mix the popcorn in until we were ready to eat it, but hey, you live and you learn. A little soggy popcorn never killed anybody!

After tasting the dish while live on the air this morning, Brain, Bob, and me I all agree that it's not good. Brain actually spit his out pretty quickly. I honestly don't think having fresh popcorn would've helped, because it's the sauce that tastes bad. It's weirdly sweet and sour at the same time, and I know I made it right because I watched the video while I was putting it together. Plus, the smell was just terrible. I think it was the apple cider vinegar.
