Korean Fried Chicken Chain to Open First of Three Iowa Locations
An international restaurant chain that specializes in Korean fried chicken is about to open its first Iowa location.
What is Korean Fried Chicken?
According to the Des Moines Register, Korean fried chicken is known for its extra crispy texture and bold flavors. Unlike traditional American fried chicken, it is double-fried to make it extra crunchy, and then coated in glazes like soy garlic, spicy, or Korean BBQ sauce.
What Korean Fried Chicken Chain is Coming to Iowa?
The Korean fried chicken chain Bonchon will be opening its first Iowa location soon in Des Moines, according to the Register. Bonchon is Korean for 'hometown'. The restaurant was founded in South Korea in 2002. Their chicken is hand-breaded, fried twice, and then hand-brushed with their signature sauces.
The Bonchon menu features drumsticks, wings, strips, boneless bites, and chicken combos. You can also enjoy other Korean dishes like bulgogi, japchae, and tteokbokki.
You can also order sides like fries, onion rings, and coleslaw along with other favorites, including potstickers, edamame, and popcorn shrimp.
When Will Bonchon Open for Business?
The Register reports that the Des Moines Bonchon location will be at 6880 EPTrue Parkway, Suite 104, and plans to open this December. An exact opening date is being finalized.
