Blake Shelton’s Tattoo Gets Recreated by Gwen Stefani’s Sons
If Blake Shelton fans had been wondering how Gwen Stefani’s kids have taken in their mom's relationship with the country star, this photo will tell them all they need to know.
Stefani posted a photo on Twitter on Sunday (April 2) of four arms of varying sizes, each inked with a set of deer tracks lined by barbed wire on either side. The arms belong to her three sons with ex Gavin Rossdale — Kingston,12, Zuma, 8, and Apollo, 3 — in addition to Shelton’s. At first glance it’s hard to tell which is the real tattoo, but it becomes clear the largest forearm has the original, while the other three have been drawn on.
The adorable photo shows just how much the kids admire Shelton and want to be like him — or at least have tattoos like him! The country star, though, would actually rather not have that particular tattoo. He’s been on record before saying it didn’t turn out like he’d hoped, but it’s not the artist’s fault.
“I can’t blame it on the tattoo guy, because I had been drinking on this occasion,” Shelton said in a 2013 interview with Access Hollywood. “I drew him this deer track and he just went to the copier and made a copy and slapped it on there, and that’s what I drew.”
Six months later, he added the barbed wire, but the tracks remain the same. “To this moment, people still come up to me and say, ‘Man, ladybugs … that’s cool. What does that mean to you?'” Shelton told Mix 106.5. “I probably have the crappiest tattoo — not only in country music, but maybe the world.”
At least the kids like it.
Shelton and Stefani have been dating for over a year, having met on the set of The Voice when they were both coaches, both going through divorces at the same time. Both artists have since released fairly transparent records reflecting their feelings throughout the painful process, Stefani’s titled This Is What the Truth Feels Like and Shelton’s, If I’m Honest. Shelton’s even includes a duet with Stefani, and its fourth single, “A Guy with a Girl,” recently hit No. 1, marking his 23rd career chart-topper.
