Iowa’s Best Prime Rib Restaurant Has Been Around for Over 40 Years
If you're on the hunt for some amazing prime rib, there's one Iowa restaurant that you have to check out! According to an article from Tasting Table, Iowa's best prime rib can be found at The Big Steer in Altoona.
About The Big Steer
Located at 1715 Adventureland Dr, the Big Steer has been going strong since 1984. It's easy to spot - just look for the giant cow out front!
The Big Steer's website says that the restaurant is locally-owned by Iowans Randy and Sherry Fix, who "strive to provide outstanding, friendly service and the finest quality food available." Based on the 1,794 reviews on Google, the "finest quality" item on the Big Steer's menu is the prime rib.
For folks who have enjoyed the prime rib at the Big Steer, it's no surprise that Tasting Table named it the best in the entire Hawkeye State! The article reads:
"The Big Steer boasts that it's been serving Iowa's best prime rib since 1984, and diners who visit based on that claim say the restaurant isn't lying. Add-ons like fried prawns, fried onions, and creamy, scratch-made jalapeño sauce have customers raving that their meal was perfection from start to finish."
The Big Steer's prime rib comes in a 12 oz cut, a 16 oz "Cattleman's Cut," or a 10 oz cut that also includes two jumbo fried shrimp. If you'd rather try it in another form, the restaurant also uses their prime rib for their French Dip sandwich.
In addition to prime rib, the Big Steer's menu includes plenty of other meats, including pork chops, BBQ ribs, fried chicken, Steak de Burgo, lobster tail, sirloin, salmon, and more. You can check out the full menu HERE.
