Beautiful: Oelwein Couple Finally Gets Wedding Photos 77 Years Later

Sometimes things don't go the way we expect. But in the end, they usually work out. This Oelwein couple is proof of that.

The Oelwein couple initially tied the knot in September of 1944. As reported by the Des Moines Register, Frankie and Royce King had very little time to get hitched. Royce was actually on a brief leave from serving in World War II when they made it official.

Now years later, this couple is getting a second shot at celebrating their love.

Frankie and Royce King of Oelwein are currently receiving care from St. Croix Hospice. On September 16th, the couple celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary. It was revealed to some of the St. Croix Hospice staff that they never took any photos on their special day nor did Frankie even get to wear a wedding dress!

So the staff went to work to give them the wedding they deserved.

This amazing team found Frankie a vintage dress, and decorated the couple's backyard for a 1940's inspired wedding. Even the music therapist from the hospice contributed to this amazing celebration by playing 1940s classics.

Frankie's daughter walked her down the aisle during this beautiful celebration of life, love, and compassion.
