Apple Users - You Might Want to Change Your iCloud Password ASAP

You can never be too careful...

Earlier this week, Apple was threatened by a hacking group called the Turkish Crime Family. The claimed to have 600 million iCloud passwords and said they would reset all of those Apple accounts on April 7th if their demands are not met. The demands? They want $75,000 in cryptocurrency or $100,000 in Apple gift cards.

If these claims are true, a TON of Apple users could lose all of their photos, videos, music... everything that's stored in the cloud. Apple told Business Insider:

"There have not been any breaches in any of Apple's systems including iCloud and Apple ID. The alleged list of email addresses and passwords appears to have been obtained from previously compromised third-party services."

They also stated that they are working with law enforcement and are, "actively monitoring to prevent unauthorized access to user accounts." It doesn't look like Apple is giving into the threats, which means you might want to personally take some action in regards to your account. Step one is to change your current password. Here are additional steps you can take, suggested by Apple:

Use a strong password
Do NOT use that same password across multiple sites
Turn on two-factor authentication (every time you log in to your iCloud account,you will have to type in a six-digit code that will be sent to your phone)

I have three Apple devices in my household and I have already started changing passwords, just to be safe. I have over 5,000 photos and videos saved in my iCloud, so I'm not taking any chances.
