The Anamosa boys basketball team will be making it's first ever trip to the Boys State Basketball Tournament this week. Yes, the first ever trip. They've been close before, including my junior year of high school when we lost to Cedar Rapids Regis in the sub-state final. I say 'we' because I'm an Anamosa alum, and like everyone else from the Jones County town, I'm pumped the Raiders are headed to state!

This Raider basketball team plays an up-tempo game that is fun to watch and tough to stop. They're led by two first-team All Wa-Mac Conference selections. Kolin Schulte averaged over 22 points per game while teammate Tyler Zumbach averaged nearly 13 ppg. Kyle Schpanski chipped in 13 points per game and was a second-team All-Conference selection. Head Coach Kevin Barnes got the team where they are and was named WaMaC East coach of the year.

The Raiders are the #6 seed in the class 2A bracket and will take on #3 seed Des Moines Christian Tuesday morning at 1030 am. While we wish all area teams the best of luck, I'll be rooting for the team in the blue and white. GO RAIDERS!
