NewBo City Market is preparing to welcome a popular Eastern Iowa bakery this spring! Amana Colonies Bakery & Cafe announced last week that they are going to be taking up residence at the Cedar Rapids market beginning in May!

Amana Colonies Bakery & Cafe, located at 4522 220th Trail, is a family-owned bakery that got its start back in 1981. The business is well known in the area for their wide variety of baked goods. The official website reads:

"With hundreds of unique tasteful breads, pastries, cookies, jams, and jellies  you are bound to find the perfect treat no matter what the occasion. We take pride behind our products, from the quality of our goods; to the recipes and ingredients, we only send out the best. Enjoy."

Back on March 23rd, Amana Colonies Bakery & Cafe revealed on Facebook that they will be bringing their delicious baked goods to Cedar Rapids this spring! The bakery is set to open inside NewBo City Market in May and the announcement says:

"We are beyond excited and blessed to have the opportunity to bring fresh baked pastries, pies, cookies and bread along with many other handmade goodies to the Cedar Rapids and surrounding areas."

The menu at Amana Colonies Bakery & Cafe is filled with all sorts of treats, including turnovers, cinnamon rolls, kolaches, strudel, Dutch letters, eclairs, scones, fudge, brownies, and more. They also offer a different artisan breads, like Parmesan Garlic, Jalapeno Cheddar, Sauerkraut, Tomato Basil, Cinnamon Raisin, and Onion Herb. There is no official menu for the NewBo location just yet, but you can keep up with the latest from Amana Colonies Bakery & Cafe on their Facebook page HERE.

Speaking of bakeries, NewBo City Market announced last week that a bagel shop based out of Baltimore, Maryland called Bottoms Up Bagels is going to be moving into the market for a few weeks!
