A New Restaurant Has Opened in Southwest Cedar Rapids

We've got another new restaurant open in Cedar Rapids! Fry Daddy's began welcoming customers earlier this week!

According to a new article from The Cedar Rapids Gazette, a new eatery called Fry Daddy's Grill & Pizza has taken over the building at 1500 20th Street SW, the former home of Olive Tree. Olive Tree moved across the street to 2201 16th Avenue SW in the summer of 2022.

Fry Daddy's is a small new restaurant with a BIG menu. It features sandwiches, like the Catfish Po Boy, the Jerk Chicken Philly, and the Italian Beef, salads and wraps, a Chicago-style hot dog, wings, and other meals like "Daddy's Famous Chicken" and fried shrimp. There are also a variety of sides and appetizers, including cheese curds, fries, mac & cheese, onion rings, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and more. Fry Daddy's doesn't have pizza on the menu just yet, but they promise that it's coming soon! Their Facebook page says they have "the most variety and the freshest delicious food on this side of town, stop in and find out for yourself!" The first three reviews all give the restaurant five stars.

Fry Daddy's Facebook page says that the restaurant officially opened for business on Monday (May 15th) in the space behind  behind BurgerFiend. The current hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can get more updates and information about the restaurant on the Facebook page HERE.
