A New Indoor Training Facility for Athletes is Opening in CR
Eastern Iowa athletes of all ages will be able to train at a new indoor facility in Cedar Rapids very soon!
Hard Drive Elite will be opening in January 6th, 2020 at 719 3rd Avenue Southeast, right across the street from Hard Drive Performance Center. The new gym will be quite different than its neighbor, though. The website reads:
"Hard Drive Elite in Cedar Rapids, IA isn't your traditional fitness center. We don't want to be. While other gyms continue to offer one-size-fits-all fitness solutions, we're crafting a new kind of workout. When you train at our indoor sports complex, you'll receive one-on-one attention from an experienced trainer, which allows us to provide game-changing service to the area's top athletes."
I spoke to owner Brent Stepanek who informed me that the facility will allow athletes to train for any sport all year round. The main focuses will be "strength, speed, core strength, and agility." In addition to a weight room, the new facility also has batting cages, 40 yards of artificial turf, a foam pit, and some staircases and a deceleration ramp for uphill training. It will be open to adults and children ages four and up. Here's a look at the facility (which is still a work in progress):
There is also an impressive coaching staff, including former Hawkeye football player Jermell Lewis, former Iowa track team member Courtney Koch, and former Nebraska football player Blake Tiedtke.
Hard Drive Elite will only be open to 300 athletes, so space is limited. Pre-registration will begin this Thursday and Friday. Get more information and apply to become a member by visiting their website HERE.
