A New Dry Bar is Coming to Downtown Cedar Rapids
A new bar is moving into Downtown Cedar Rapids, but it's not like any of the others in the area. According to a new article from the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Unimpaired Dry Bar is getting set to open at 415 3rd St. SE in the former home of Hawks Nest Sports Bar & Grill.
If the name Unimpaired sounds familiar, that's because they already have a location here in the Corridor! Unimpaired Dry Bar first opened in Iowa City back in late 2021, offering a nightlife option for Iowans that don't want to drink alcohol. According to their website:
"We have created an environment to enjoy a drink and relax, dance, sing and socialize. Where anyone can come and enjoy. Does that mean we’re against alcohol? Heck No! At Unimpaired (UIP), we simply created a space where you can have fun, but not at the expense of your health if you so choose. A place where you don’t have to feel pressured to consume alcohol, or looked at funny for ordering something alcohol free."
The new Cedar Rapids Unimpaired will be a bit different from the location in Iowa City. It's called Unimpaired Express, and it will serve "all the food and drinks you love at UIP Mobile... just at a storefront." Unimpaired Mobile is a food truck that travels to events in the Quad Cities area and beyond. The new Unimpaired Express will be smaller than the one in Iowa City and offer specialty coffees, lotus energy drinks, and a variety of mocktails. A Facebook post says it will have "coffee shop/energy drink bar vibes."
Unimpaired Express has yet to announce an official opening date, but you can follow their Facebook page for the latest updates HERE.
