A New Cedar Rapids Restaurant Opens Today [PHOTOS]

Get ready to try something new! Sacred Cow Tavern will officially open for business today, October 31st!

We first got word of Sacred Cow Tavern back in September. The restaurant is located in the Oak Hill Jackson Neighborhood at 1000 7th St SE in Cedar Rapids and is a partnership between the 'Fun Not Fancy' Restaurant Group and local restaurant owner Kory Nanke.

According to an article from KCRG, the building has a long history. It's been many different things over its 110 years, including a couple of churches! The article reads:

"The church history is highlighted at the Sacred Cow Tavern where people will be able to enjoy their meal from a pew, turned booth. Meanwhile a steeple stands tall on the wall and of course there are plenty of cows to suit the name."

The menu at Sacred Cow includes appetizers, soups, salads, burgers, desserts, and more. Some of the "Grazers," or appetizers, are Nacho Fries, Parmesan Pickle Fries, a Sausage & Pretzel Board, and Grilled Chicken Wings. A few of the main course options include a Pretzel Salad, a Chicken Gyro Caesar Salad, a Poutine Burger, a Cheese Dip Burger, Pork Ribs, and a Shrimp Boil. And then for dessert, you can choose from the Peanut Butter S'mores Cup and the Caramel Apple Cinnamon Roll. Check out the full menu below:

Local celebrity Joe Sample went to the Sacred Cow Tavern's soft opening over the weekend and had nothing but good things to say! He wrote on the Cedar Rapids Area Support Local Group page:

"This place has a great vibe to it and everything we had was amazing including the service! My Gyro Chicken Philly was an absolute HOME RUN!"
