Sometimes adults need to feel like kids again!
On June 22nd, a new bar called Double Tap Beercade officially opened in Iowa City. If the name sounds familiar to you, then you may have visited the original location at 312 Main Street in Cedar Falls. The Iowa City Double Tap Beercade is one of three Cedar Falls businesses to expand to the Corridor this year. The others are The Stuffed Olive and Roxxy.
The 21+ venue describes itself on Facebook as "a modern and captivating Beercade featuring 50 retro to current video games and pinball machines." Some of the featured games include skee-ball, Ms. Pac-Man, Guitar Hero, Street Fighter II, Mario Kart Racer, 3D Pong, Space Invaders, Frogger, Minecraft, and more. There's also a game called Killer Queen, which the website says "is the hot new game where teams play against each other and Double Tap is one of only a few locations in Iowa to have it."
In addition to the games, Double Tap also features a full bar with craft beers and homemade pizza. Specialty pizza options include Spinach Artichoke, Crab Rangoon, and Jalapeno Popper.
Double Tap Beercade is open Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to midnight and Saturday & Sunday from noon to midnight. You can find them at 121 E College St in Iowa City.
Double Tap Beercade isn't the only place in the Corridor that you can go have a beer and play games! You can also check out Joystick Comedy Bar & Arcade in Iowa City, SpareMe Bowl & Arcade in Iowa City, Quarter Barrel Arcade & Brewery in Cedar Rapids, and Spare Time Entertainment in Cedar Rapids.
