A Kennedy Teacher is Our ‘Teacher of the Week’ This Week!
Every week we team up with Menard's to honor another awesome teacher in the local area with our ‘Teacher of the Week’ award!
Congratulations to Andrew Courtney, a teacher at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids! He is this week’s ‘Teacher of the Week!’ Andrew was nominated by several different people, and these are their entries:
"Mr. Courtney is an excellent teacher. It has to be hard working with kids that have mental and behavior problems, yet he does day in and day out. He actually seems to care about kids' futures and works hard with them to graduate." - Rick King
"Mr. Courtney has worked very hard with me to help make it possible that I can graduate on time. He is always there to help when I need help." - Quinlynn Ohara
"My nephew has many mental and behavior problems. Mr. Courtney has always worked hard to make sure he is where he needs to be, even messaging to check up on him while he was in placement. He has a sense of humor that makes him approachable to all the kids." - Brianna Ohara
"Mr. Courtney is my grandson's teacher. He has worked with him since freshman year and he is now a junior. Quinlynn has some issues and has fallen behind. Mr. Courtney is helping make sure Quinlynn gets caught up and graduates on time. Quinlynn is difficult to work with at times, however, Mr. Courtney has never given up." - Stacy King
"Mr. Courtney is the behavior teacher at Kennedy. My son has many mental and behavior issues. He's missed a lot of school, but Mr. Courtney sent messages checking how Quinlynn was doing in placement. He has been so helpful getting him where he needs to be to graduate." - Jessica Ohara
For being an amazing teacher, Andrew will be receiving gift cards from Wild Hogs in Walford, Half-Price Books, and Kathy’s Pies!
