It's the 98th running of the Indianapolis 500 Sunday, May 25th and the Tiger Hawk logo of the University of Iowa will appear on one of the cars in this year's field.  It's been announced that the University of Iowa Stephen A. Wynn Institute for Vision Research has partnered with Lazier Partners Racing and supporters to raise awareness for the institute’s research by providing lead sponsorship of the #91 University of Iowa Stephen A. Wynn Institute for Vision Research Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone car in the 98th running of the 500-mile race.  It will be driven by Buddy Lazier, who won the 500 in 1996.

I'm not an avid race fan, but always try to watch both the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500.  I believe I just found my rooting interest in this year's Indy.  It's Buddy Lazier and the U of I Memorial Day Weekend.  To steal a quote from the former Hawkeye coaching great Hayden Fry, "I'll always be a Hawk."

Here's more info on Buddy's Drive for the Cure.
