Do you know an area teacher making a huge impact on the lives of their students? Nominate them for the KHAK Teacher of the Week Award!

This week’s winner is Sandi Zimmerman at Clear Creek Amana Middle School! She was nominated by Hunter Schmelzer. He wrote:

"My name is Hunter Schmelzer. I had Mrs. Zimmerman, we all call her Zimmy, for my 8th grade English. Zimmy is a teacher that went into education for the right reasons. She loves all her students. She believes in all her students, even the ones like me that got into trouble sometimes. She believes in me and many others, even when other teachers gave up on us. She was always there to help, even with other subjects. She was more than just a teacher, she was someone that I looked up to. I could talk to her about anything. Now that I am in high school, I can still talk to her about school and issues that I am having outside of school. She is hard on me and tells me what I need to hear, but she is still my friend too. I still go to her classroom and talk to her. I think she should win an award and teach other teachers about believing in kids. She never gave up on me and she makes me believe that I can do anything. When I got my first car, she was so excited, she came to see it. She is retiring this summer and I think she deserves to win this now before it is too late. I want everyone in our community to see what I saw in her."

Congratulations to Sandi for being our Teacher of the Week! She wins gift cards to Wild Hogs in Walford, Pecks Flower and Garden Shop, and Kathy’s Pies!
