Empty Street 3

This past weekend marked the beginning of Christmas shopping season.  Anyone who lives and shops in the Cedar Rapids area knows what a nightmare it can be trying to get from "Point A" to "Point B" on Blairs Ferry Rd or Collins Rd during the weekends leading up to Christmas.  Being that we live on the NE side of town, I find myself cringing when I have to run out to grab groceries or return a movie sometimes.  The traffic can make an easy 10 minute trip into an hour-long excursion.

Then....there is the drive into work.  Yes, getting up at 3am and heading into work can be rough at times.  One thing that isn't...is the drive in.  After spending literally HOURS driving on Blairs Ferry Rd dodging shoppers over the weekend, the view from my car window on the way in this morning was sheer beauty (as it is most every morning.)  I've always loved the drive in to work at 3:30am.  But after the reminder of what the next three weeks will hold as far as traffic is concerned...made especially sweet today.  Now if I can only get all my Christmas shopping done between the hours of 1am and 4am, I'd be set!
